The organization is Bob Laney and friends, planning and leading outdoor trips. We aim to increase participants' understanding and appreciation of the outdoors, nature and wildlife. All persons are welcome.

Elk Creek Outfitters. One of the best fishing guides in western NC, eastern TN and southwestern VA. Experienced all over the western hemisphere, from AL to FL. And a great guy, to boot!
River Girl Fishing Company & New River Adventures. Fishing, kayaking, canoeing and biking. Lessons, guides, equpment, rentals, shuttles, sales and service.
Super Fly guided kayaking and fishing on the Yadkin River and W Kerr Scott Lake.
Turtle Island Preserve: Eustace Conway's way cool Indian style camp and pioneer settler style farm in south east Watauga County.
Brushy Mountain Cycling Club. Wilkes County's own muscle powered road warriors. A great group of folks and a good way to get exercise while seeing the mountain country side.
Piedmont Appalachian Trail Hikers. A hiking club and crew with a responsibility to maintain a section of the Appalachian Trail in southwest Virginia. Work trips the 3rd weekend of every month.
Piedmont Hiking and Outing Club. Based on Greensboro, many members, many outings each month, they cover a large geographical area.
Twin Rivers Paddle Club. Based in New Bern, NC. Offers guided trips, member lead trips and clinics on safety, paddling and rescue.
Triangle Hiking and Outdoors Group - very large and active, huge variety of activities.
Google Earth. The coolest computer mapping tool in existence! View the entire earth via satellite photos. Resolution varies, but in some places is good enough to see individual trees. I recommend to download Google Earch Plus and pay the $10 annual fee.
